Starlink Roof Installation in Dubai

Starlink dish on pipe mount on a Dubai villa roof

For a permanent Starlink connection, the roof is usually the best place for the dish. It offers the widest view of the sky and keeps the equipment out of the way. A rooftop job, however, involves more than placing the dish. The mount must be secure, the cable must enter the building without leaks, and the position has to avoid obstructions. With years of satellite dish work behind our team, Borassus Electronics LLC brings that same care to Starlink roof installations in Dubai. Line-of-Sight and Obstruction Check

Starlink needs a wide, clear view of the sky, not just one direction. Before drilling anything, we use the Starlink app’s obstruction tool to scan the proposed position. Common rooftop obstructions in Dubai include:

  • Neighbouring towers and taller villas
  • Water tanks, AC condenser units and stair housings
  • Parapet walls and decorative roof features
  • Palm trees and other tall landscaping

If the first spot shows interruptions, we compare alternatives or raise the dish on a taller pole.

Mount Types We Use

Pipe and Pole Mounts

A pipe mount raises the dish above parapets and tanks. It is fixed to a wall or a weighted base, depending on the roof.

Wall and Parapet Mounts

A bracket on a parapet or upper wall is neat and avoids penetrating the roof membrane.

Non-Penetrating Ballast Mounts

On flat roofs where drilling is not allowed, a weighted base holds the dish in place. This is often preferred for buildings with waterproofed roofs.

Pitched Roof Mounts

For villas with sloped roofs, a pitched or ridge mount follows the roofline, with sealed fixings.

Cable Routing and Waterproofing

A tidy, protected cable route is what separates a professional install from a temporary one.

  • UV-resistant protection: outdoor cable runs are clipped and placed in conduit or trunking where needed to protect against Dubai sun.
  • Existing entry points: where possible we use existing satellite or AC penetrations to avoid new holes.
  • Sealed entries: any new penetration is sealed with weatherproof sealant and a drip loop so water runs away from the opening.
  • No sharp bends or crushing: the cable is not pinched in windows or doors.

Villas, Apartments and Buildings

Villas and Townhouses

Villa roofs usually allow flexible positioning. We check community guidelines, as some developments have rules about visible rooftop equipment.

Apartments

Apartment residents generally need building management approval for roof access, and sometimes a work permit or NOC before installation. We can work with your building’s requirements once approval is in place.

Commercial Buildings and Warehouses

Offices and warehouses may need longer cable runs and coordination with facilities teams for access and safety rules.

Our Roof Installation Steps

  1. Confirm approvals and roof access.
  2. Survey and obstruction scan.
  3. Choose mount type and fix securely.
  4. Route, protect and seal the cable.
  5. Connect router, activate and test.
  6. Clean up and hand over.

After installation, our Starlink technician team is available for relocation and troubleshooting. For portable kits, see Starlink Mini installation, or our UAE-wide Starlink installation service for projects outside Dubai.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the roof the best place for a Starlink dish?

Often yes, because roofs usually offer the widest view of the sky. The best spot is the one with the fewest obstructions in the Starlink app’s check.

Do I need permission to install Starlink on my building roof?

In most apartment and commercial buildings, roof access and equipment installation require building management approval, and sometimes a permit or NOC.

Will drilling cause roof leaks?

Any penetration must be sealed properly. Where drilling is not allowed or not desirable, non-penetrating ballast or parapet mounts can be used.

Can you use the existing satellite dish cable route?

Where an existing entry point is suitable, using it can avoid new holes. The Starlink cable itself is different from a TV dish cable and must be run separately.

Can strong wind damage a Starlink dish?

An insecure mount can be affected by strong winds. A correctly fixed mount suited to the surface reduces this risk.

Can you move my dish to a better spot on the roof?

Yes. We can relocate the dish and re-route the cable if obstructions or building changes affect the connection.
